We are keen supporters of our local young people and enjoy helping them by offering them excellent learning opportunities. We can offer them some brilliant growth and personal development schemes like RYAL, Europe 4 Europe (not 2018)and OYT – which are free residential trips, fully supported by the Rotary.
RYAL – For many years the club has sponsored a young person to attend a week’s course, run by Rotary, at the outdoor centre at Hebden Hey. The week is designed to develop leadership potential and both boys and girls have left feeling they have greatly benefited from the week.
OYT – In partnership with Rotary in our region we arrange two specific 5-day residential courses in August for young people between the age of 14 and 18 aboard the James Cook sailing ketch based at North Shields. The programme provides interpersonal skills, leadership development along with the opportunity to learn to sail and gain a “Competent Crew” RYA sailing certificate.
Europe 4 Europe – Is a biannual cultural awareness programme organised by six founding nations of the European Union, who this year hosted 27 young people (aged 18 – 24) one from each of the European Union Member state.
We also help support local schools by providing dictionaries to Y5 students and by supporting the high schools by providing students which business development and learning opportunities.
