As part of the dementia awareness campaign three members of the club attended a training/information session at the Mary Popplewell centre in Sherburn-in-Elmet on Wednesday the 7th of January. The session was hosted by the Sherburn Visiting Scheme and the talk was given by Jill Quinn and Netty Newell. The session provided a very informative insite into the disease of dementia, the problems and reasons for the behavioural changes associated with it. The intention now is to try to spread that information through the village business community with the aim of securing a “dementia friendly” designation for the village. If this can be attained it will be a great help and support to those who have to care for those unfortunate enough to suffer from this condition. We hope our community will rally to this very important cause.
