The highly anticipated Rotary Business Network Group Breakfast (BNG)Conference was held on Friday 18th of September. A group of local business owners and members of the BNG, started planning back in June seem to take a lifetime to arrive, but what a success it was. Held at Scarthingwell Golf Course, as each Sherburn meeting is, it was the perfect setting for the networking event.
Jemma Ayelsbury a student from Sherburn High, on a work placement, supervised by the staff of the Creative Shed, provided the support to pull the event together.
Over 60 people attended to listen to the 3 brilliant speakers and network with fellow local business owners. The morning began at 8am, with tea and coffee and a chance to mingle with local businesses. Upon arrival all attendees received a BNG bag, stocked up with information and a few goodies from some of the BNG members.
The first speaker, Mr Barry Dodd, Chair of the Local Enterprise Partnership, who provided a Regional perspective on business and how he made his success. Great questions followed, the importance of Innovation in Business, and the importance of networking with other businesses, both of which had contributed to Barry success.
Mr Stephen Spencer from Spentex, a local business man with 35 years of knowledge to share, gave an honest account of the trial and success of being a member of a family business, ensuring its continued success.
Our final speaker was Mr Tony Goodwin ‘The Sales Whisperer’, who spoke about growing your business in the right way and how not to do sales! The jokes and corresponding actions gave great amusement to the audience.
The 3 speakers were excellent and inspiring, leaving those in the room full of food for thought.
Lots of time was left for networking and sharing ideas and experiences.
Lots of positive comments were received from attendee’s who completed the evaluation forms, these together with a video made of the event can be accessed at WWW.osgoldcrossrotary.org Check it out you will also find a list of the BNG meetings, held each month 8am to 9am, look forward to seeing new people there.
