The South Milford Bonfire was yet another huge success. The Osgoldcross & Elmet Rotary had been working non stop all week to ensure the event went off without a hitch. Even with the weather against us during the day, we made sure that nothing stood in the way of the eagerly anticipated night. With people turning up in their thousands, the sweets, pies and BBQ went down a treat.
It was certainly a night to remember with the fire being lit at 6.00pm, there was plenty of time for the kids to light their sparklers before getting warm by the fire. The main feature for many was our famous firework display. We have the biggest firework display in the North/West of Yorkshire, and have been voted best firework display in the North of England 5 times – and this year we certainly lived up to these titles. With the display almost lasting 30 minutes, fireworks in their hundreds were flying to the stars, colours exploding before our eyes.
The event was a massive hit, with people and families attending for all around the area, it was great to see so many people supporting the night. We are already looking forward to next years bonfire night!
